When you buy a new computer or install Windows, the system assigns your PC a random, complicated name like "DESKTOP-8G7H6F". If you share files on a home network or connect via Bluetooth, this makes it hard to identify your device. Luckily, you can easily change this to something simple like "Office-PC" or "Laptop".
How to Use It:
Open Settings: Press the Windows Key + I on your keyboard to open the main Settings window.
Go to About: In the left sidebar (Windows 11) or main menu (Windows 10), click on System, then scroll all the way down and click on About.
Rename This PC: At the top of the "About" page, click the button that says Rename this PC.
Choose a New Name: A blue window will pop up. Type your new desired computer name. Remember that you cannot use spaces or special characters—only letters, numbers, and hyphens. Click Next.
Restart: The system will ask you to restart your computer to apply the changes. Click Restart now.
Once your PC reboots, it will proudly display its new, recognizable name on your network!
