How to Show Hidden Files and Folders on Windows (Quick Guide)

Disclaimer: For educational purposes only. Do not delete or modify hidden system files unless you know exactly what they are. The author is not responsible for any system corruption, hardware failures, or data loss. This guide is strictly for Windows 10 and 11. Do not attempt these steps on Apple macOS, as the file system and architecture are completely different. Proceed entirely at your own risk.

Sometimes Windows hides important folders or downloaded files to protect them. If you are looking for a missing file, you can easily force your system to show everything.

  1. Open File Explorer (press the Windows Key + E on your keyboard).
  2. Look at the top menu bar. Click on the "View" tab.
  3. In the menu that drops down (or on the top ribbon), hover over "Show".
  4. Check the option that says "Hidden items".
  5. The hidden files and folders will now appear on your screen. They usually look slightly transparent or faded compared to normal folders.

You can simply uncheck the box later to hide them again and keep your system secure.
