How to Find Your Mouse Cursor Instantly (CTRL Key Trick)

If you use a large monitor or multiple displays, losing your mouse cursor can be incredibly annoying. Windows includes a built‑in feature that highlights your pointer with a shrinking circle whenever you press the CTRL key. This guide shows you how to enable it in just a few steps.

Step 1: Open Windows Settings

This step opens the main system configuration panel where mouse settings are located.

1. Press Windows + I on your keyboard.

2. The Settings window will appear.

Step 2: Navigate to Mouse Settings

This step takes you to the section where pointer behavior can be adjusted.

1. In Windows 11: Select Bluetooth & devices → Mouse.

2. In Windows 10: Select Devices → Mouse.

Step 3: Open Additional Mouse Settings

This opens the classic Mouse Properties window where the CTRL‑highlight feature is located.

1. Scroll down and click Additional mouse settings.

2. A new window called Mouse Properties will appear.

Step 4: Enable the CTRL Key Pointer Locator

This activates the feature that highlights your cursor when you press CTRL.

1. Go to the Pointer Options tab.

2. At the bottom, check Show location of pointer when I press the CTRL key.

3. Click Apply, then OK.
