There is nothing more frustrating than typing a document or searching the web when your keyboard suddenly stops responding. Before you buy a new one, Windows usually just needs a quick reset of its input services. Here is how to fix a frozen keyboard instantly.
How to Fix It:
Check the Connection: If it is a USB keyboard, unplug it and plug it into a different USB port. If it is wireless, check the batteries and the USB receiver.
Run the Keyboard Troubleshooter: Use your mouse to click the Start button, go to Settings (the gear icon), then Update & Security, and select Troubleshoot. Click on Additional troubleshooters, find Keyboard, and click Run the troubleshooter.
Reinstall the Keyboard Driver: Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager. Expand the Keyboards section. Right-click your main keyboard device and select Uninstall device. Do not worry, Windows will automatically reinstall a fresh driver as soon as you restart your PC. Use your mouse to restart the computer.
A quick reboot is often the fastest way to get your keys working again!
