How to Fix High CPU Usage by Antimalware Service Executable

Microsoft Defender is good, but it can slow down your PC. The Antimalware Service Executable process often uses too much CPU. Follow these steps to fix it:

Step 1: Open Antivirus Settings

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Type Windows Security and press Enter.

  3. Select Virus & threat protection.

  4. Click on Manage settings.

Step 2: Add an Exclusion

  1. Scroll down to the Exclusions section.

  2. Click Add or remove exclusions.

  3. Click Add an exclusion and select Folder.

  4. Copy and paste this path: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender

  5. Click Select Folder.
