Did your Windows 11 PC just restart three times in a row? This is normal for the May 2026 update. It updates critical system certificates. However, if your folders feel slow now, follow my guide below to fix it.
Step 1: Check Your Update Status
First, ensure the update finished correctly.
Click Start > Settings > Windows Update.
Make sure it says "You're up to date".
Step 2: Clear File Explorer History
A "heavy" File Explorer is the most common issue. Clearing the cache usually fixes it instantly.
Press Win + S and type Control Panel.
Open File Explorer Options.
Click the Clear button at the bottom.
Step 3: Disable Transparency Effects
For a snappier interface, turn off visual transparency.
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Visual effects.
Toggle Transparency effects to Off.
