How to Auto-Hide the Taskbar in Windows 10 and 11
If you feel like the Windows taskbar is taking up too much precious screen real estate, especially on a laptop or small monitor, you can reclaim that space by enabling the auto-hide taskbar feature. This setting makes the taskbar disappear when you are not using it, giving you more room to work. It immediately reappears when you need it.
Here is how to set it up:
Open Windows Settings: Press the Windows key + I on your keyboard.
Go to Personalization: In the left menu, click on Personalization.
Select Taskbar: Scroll down on the right pane and click on Taskbar.
Access Taskbar Behaviors (Windows 11): Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Taskbar behaviors to expand the section. (Note: For Windows 10, the toggle for "Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode" is immediately visible on the main Taskbar page).
Enable Auto-Hide: Check the box next to Automatically hide the taskbar. (Or flip the toggle for Windows 10).
The taskbar will immediately slide down out of view. To bring it back, simply move your mouse cursor to the very bottom edge of your screen.
