How to Clear a Stuck Print Queue in Windows

If your printer refuses to print and documents stay “stuck” in the queue, the print spooler may be frozen. This is a common Windows issue — and you can fix it in seconds.

Reason:

A print job is stuck in the queue and blocks all other documents.

Task:

Clear the print queue and restart the print spooler.

Solution:

Follow the steps below to fix the issue on Windows 11 Home.

Step 1: Open Printer Settings

  1. Press Win + I to open Settings.

  2. Go to Bluetooth & devices.

  3. Select Printers & scanners.

Step 2: Select Your Printer

  1. Find your printer in the list.

  2. Click on it to open its settings.

Step 3: Open the Print Queue

  1. Click Open print queue.

  2. A window will appear showing all pending print jobs.

Step 4: Clear All Print Jobs

  1. In the print queue window, click Printer in the top menu.

  2. Select Cancel All Documents.

  3. Confirm the action.

Step 5 (Optional): Restart the Print Spooler Service

If the queue still doesn’t clear:

  1. Press Win + R.

  2. Type: services.msc

  1. Press Enter.

  2. Find Print Spooler.

  3. Right‑click → Restart.
