This guide is strictly for Windows operating systems (Windows 10 and 11). Do not attempt these steps on Apple macOS or iOS devices, as the keyboard shortcuts are entirely different. Proceed entirely at your own risk.
If you want to capture just a specific part of your screen instead of the whole monitor, you don't need to download third-party software. Windows has a built-in shortcut for this.
- Press the Windows Key + Shift + S on your keyboard at the same time.
- Your screen will slightly darken, and a small menu will appear at the top.
- Click and drag your mouse to select the exact area you want to capture.
- Release the mouse button. The image is now automatically saved to your clipboard.
- Press Ctrl + V to paste the image into an email, document, or chat.
This simple trick saves time and keeps your computer free of unnecessary applications.
